Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice. A series of meetings reinforcing intercultural dialogue between local community, immigrants and refugees.

Toward Durable Solutions for the Internally Displaced in Bosnia & Herzegovina
To gain a more intimate understanding of life as an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) in Bosnia, Senior Fellows Chad and Aida gathered a diverse team to conduct a qualitative, substantive survey of the residents of Tasovčići Collective Center, a housing area for IDPs on the outskirts of Mostar.

Senior Fellow Martine Marquis founded Crossborder Factory as a social enterprise that aims to stimulate the debate on Europe by developing innovative forms of participation.

The Glitch Border Manifesto
As his Action Project, Landecker Fellow Christoffer together with artists from various regions will investigate how the EU border expands in time in space due to the EU's increased investing in border technology, and create responses and interventions in The Glitch Border Manifesto.

Postmigrant Powerhouse – Diversifying Democracy
As her Action Project, Landecker Democracy Fellow Sujin Julia is developing "Postmigrant Powerhouse" - a platform connecting persons of diverse heritage, especially Black Persons and People of Color, in a digital network. Using community organizing methods, Sujin hopes to build community, power and democratic leadership: For a democracy that is as diverse as its people.

Project Civis
As her Action Project, Landecker Democracy Fellow Melissa is developing Project Civis, a digital learning platform for those hoping to become U.S. citizens. Project Civis allows one to practice for the naturalization test through mock interviews to increase their confidence on interview day, and ultimately participate in the US democracy!
