We proudly present informative & visually stimulating “Women* in Action in Poland” board. If you like it, feel free to share it and make use of it!
The board is authored by Natalia Styrnol, Yulia Rudenko, Nitzan Menagem and Weronika Szwajda, Fellows of our 2020 Warsaw Fellowship/Academy of Human Rights whose task was to capture in a nutshell some challenges & activism of women* in Poland.
Although the Fellows have diverse backgrounds – Ukraine, Poland, Israel, Germany – they are guided by a common goal, the freedom of choice.
As Nitzan Menagem, said “I am in awe of the wonderful and inspiring womxn and activists from Poland I met on the Humanity in Action Fellowship. I have learnt a lot from them and their struggle, which is essentially also mine. They are determined to transform society for all of us, both in our generation and for the next ones.
There is a famous protest sign, asking “why do we still have to protest this s***”, usually held by older womxn. I cannot think of a better example than Poland for this famous, symbolic saying: How is this possible, in 2021, that a woman doesn’t have the obvious right to her own body? How can this outdated, discriminatory and literally dangerous abortion law be a reality, still to this day?
It is Audre Lorde who said: “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.” Lorde didn’t know how right she would be, still, to this day.”
