Reclaiming the Body, Liberating the Mind: 21st century Black Activism was a series of events created by Senior Fellow Denzel Caldwell at Duke University. The series gathered university students, particularly of African descent, to discuss and highlight the intersecting challenges the African Diaspora faces in the 21st century. The events also explored the ways in which these challenges can be addressed. Denzel and his colleagues developed the series in response to acts of racism perpetrated on Duke University’s campus. Through Reclaiming the Body, Liberating the Mind: 21st century Black Activism, Denzel engaged hundreds of university students in implementing methods to combat 21st century racism and the larger Black Lives Matters movement.
