Julian Junk on Demonstrations being replaced by walks

In Germany, demonstrations against Coronavirus measures are quite common. However, more and more often, officially registered demonstrations are getting cancelled at the last minute. The attendees and so-called “walkers” then walk through the streets and “present the police with a special challenge,” a new article published by the German Neue Westfälische news outlet says.

To understand better this trend, Mareike Köstermeyer asked Senior Fellow Julian Junk to comment. Surprisingly, according to Julian, this is by no means a new tactic.
