Senior Fellow Nelly Y. Pinkrah recently published an article in Neues Deutschland about how algorithms can adopt human prejudices. Since algorithms are made by humans, they contain inherent biases. The failure to take into account system-related racism has led to technological mishaps, leading to unintentional racism. They have ranged from soap dispensers only dispensing to white hands to the more dramatic mislabeling of a black man as a gorilla. Read the full article  here (in German).
