Senior Fellow Nelly Y Pinkrah published an article in C& (Contemporary And) about what “digital” means and its relation to race. She reimagines the digital by expanding its definition to encompass more than the conventional association with the internet. Through this process, she demonstrates that the narrow conception of term is rooted in Western thought and ideals. This inadvertently disadvantages other races, resulting in the perception of non-Western cultures as incompatible or behind in technological advancement.
