Is it racist to ask someone where they are from?

“For me personally, I like to say, ‘Do you want the long answer or the short answer?’“, says Senior Landecker Fellow Mamobo when asked about her response to questions about her origins.

In a recent NewsTalk article, Mamobo contributed with her expertise and experience on identity questioning.

“If you question [one’s] identity, then you’re saying, ‘Okay, you’re actually not from here.’“, explained Mamobo.

Mamobo is one of thirty 2021-2022 Landecker Democracy Fellows.
