Passover is one of the most sacred and central Jewish holidays. It commemorates and celebrates Israelites’ freedom from slavery and escape from ancient Egypt.

Not Free to Desist (NFD) is a campaign, open letter, and organization committed to re-imagining Jewish spaces and creating anti-racist Jewish community. NFD was founded by Lindsey Newman, Aaron Samuels, and Rachel Sumekh. Founded amidst the Black Lives Matter movement and racial reckoning in the US in June 2020, NFD was initially an open letter calling for Jewish organizations and individuals to (re)commit to seven community obligations centered on racial justice. To date, more than 2,000 Jews of Color, allies, and Jewish organizations have signed the letter. In addition to the letter, NFD hosts educational events and creates original antiracist resources.
