Action Project Academy in Warsaw

Article

What a day! Polish Fellows of the 2021 Humanity in Action Warsaw program had the opportunity to meet offline for the first time this past Saturday, October 16, during the Action Project Academy.

We started with a round of Action Project pitching & feedback, where every Fellow shared their idea for implementing social change in their communities.

We then heard from our Senior Fellows about their impactful Action Projects –  Maya Szydłowska and Katarzyna Korytowska (2018 Berlin Fellowship) behind HER Docs film festival, as well as Jarmiła Rybicka (2014 Warsaw Fellowship), co-founder of Kuchnia Konfliktu, a social enterprise, which supports refugees on the labor market. Fellows had questions in regards to funding and partnerships, which will be addressed further in our upcoming Action Project Academy focused solely on fundraising!

After a vegan lunch break, we regrouped for an intensive but interactive workshop on design thinking with a trainer and community organizer Martyna Markiewicz of Ashoka. Fellows can incorporate this method to design solutions to social problems based on identified needs in their chosen Action Projects.

We ended the day on a high note with a lively dinner/get-together for 25 current Fellows and Senior Fellows of our activist network!
