On March 28, 2022, Senior Fellow Ianne Fields Stewart was honored at the Lucille Lortel Awards Toast. The event was organized by the League of Professional Theatre Women.
Ianne has performed consistently in NYC stage productions, but has also film and TV acting credits. “As a writer, Stewart’s play A Dying Breed has had several productions throughout the United States,” this Playbook article reports.
Ianne is further the recipient of 2021’s inaugural Logo Legends Award for their activism. The Okra Project, which Ianne founded, seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people. In 2020, Ianne also co-organized “Brooklyn Liberation: A Rally for Black Trans Lives” and addressed thousands of people who gathered to march for Black Trans lives.
