Landecker Fellow Nushin Yazdani was recently cited in an article written by Hessie Jones titled “Intersectionality, Inequity And Imminence Of AI: A Human Perspective” for the Forbes website.
The piece approaches the biases and inequalities that have developed over time within established social processes, giving focus to the way AI systems fuel and perpetuate power structures within society. The article highlights extensively the work of Raziye Buse Çetin, an AI Researcher working with art, research and policy making to create a technological future that centers life.
Buse work is familiar to Humanity in Action since she came on board as a team member of Nushin’s Landecker Democracy Fellowship project. In the article, Jones sites Buse, who speaks about the initiatives she has taken action in – bringing forward Nushin’s work on the creation of a collaborative platform seeking to offer a constructive space to assess the evolution of technologies.
