How does one argue “properly”? Is arguing always worth it? The answers to these question can be especially helpful for educators who want to represent their own perspectives in the classroom but are aware of power dynamics involved with sharing their stances.
As part of his Fellowship project, Alfred Landecker Democracy Fellow Thomas Arnold will be leading an online workshop focused not on the rhetoric, but on the philosophy of arguing reasonably. Titled “Arguing Properly For Teachers – Applied Philosophy,” the workshop will be offered to the Heidelberg School of Education students on April 1st, 2021. You can find more information about the event here (in German).
Thomas is one of thirty Alfred Landecker Democracy Fellows. This Fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
