Senior Fellow Corinne Cath’s PhD titled “Change minds and machines: a case study of human rights advocacy in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)” is live.
Her thesis is an ethnographic study of Internet governance, the culture(s) and politics of Internet infrastructure and standardization. She demonstrates how civil society’s ability to apply human rights norms to technology development are negatively affected by Internet governance protocol politics and network imaginaries.
