Hawai'i Public Radio on Imua Alliance's new project

Landecker Fellow Kris is the founder and executive director of Imua Alliance, a Hawaii-based anti-trafficking organization. To this day, they have rescued over 160 victims from sexual slavery and provided  services to over 1,000 more.

Kris was recently interviewed on Hawai’i Public Radio about a new project Imua Alliance is launching as well as the process for sex trafficking survivors to leave that life behind them.  

Finally, “the most useful thing you can do is take a quick photo or video with your phone and send it to authorities or a service provider like Imua Alliance,” Kris recommended to anyone encountering a potential victim.

Kris is one of thirty 2021-2022 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
