Article

Anthony has spent several years deepening his knowledge about the historical and material processes that influence structural conditions we encounter today. He has been influenced by anti-colonialist works, histories of territoriality, and contemporary labour issues. Anthony has an academic background in law and political science where he focused on state authority and its exercise though various institutions. He has also worked in a range of sectors including education, hospitality, social entrepreneurship. He has become active with social movements in recent years, working to address climate breakdown and address social and material inequality. Anthony’s British and Surinamese family background have greatly influenced his understanding of imperialism, nationhood, and the social construction of subjecthood and subjectivity. He hopes to learn deeply throughout the HIA Amsterdam Fellowship and is excited to bring a collaborative project to life, exploring the ongoing influences of Dutch Imperialism.
