Ashley Chin

Article

Ashley Chin (she/her, 27) works as a policy officer for the parliamentary faction of BIJ1, a political party that advocates for system change to realise a society driven by radical equality, solidarity and justice. Discrimination & racism, sex work, migration, police and decolonisation are few of the dossiers she is responsible for. Before she started working in politics, she worked as a producer and programmer at The New Institute in Rotterdam.

Social justice has always been a central theme throughout her work in both the public and the cultural sector. Continuously learning and departing from lived experiences, as well as from decolonial and intersectional perspectives are imperative to her work. After all, system change can only be realised by following leadership from those who live the urgency of such change. In that pursuit, she believes that self-reflection and accountability pave the only way forward.
