Asma Alabed is a Syrian-Turkish American who has spent time studying and working between Toronto, Istanbul, Dubai, Palestine, Beirut and Berlin. She has primarily worked with organizations and research institutions addressing education inequities and political media production across the Middle East. Asma plans to pursue holistic sustainable development to return agency and power back to communities and local experts in the Arab world. She is interested in learning and working on how to facilitate local knowledge to develop sustainable local enterprise networks that are scalable and can operate independent of oppressive capitalistic and economic power structures, which are destroying the social fabric of Middle Eastern communities. She firmly believes and lives by a radical re-imagination of being, communicating and living based on compassion, equity and love.
