Benazir Basauri Torres is a Peruvian artist and decolonial researcher. Her practice centers on intertwining care, community, Andean cosmovision, and technology. As an Erasmus Mundus Scholar, she earned her MA in Media Arts Cultures in 2023. Since then, Benazir actively shares insights as a speaker at conferences, focusing on the encounter between European museums and artists from the Global South. She creates projects for/with migrants, women*, and BiPOC communities, focused on joy and safe spaces. She is also a mentor for Latin American youth in arts and technology. Her artwork has been shown at exhibitions like Mutation Week Festival (DK), Unter den Nägeln (DE), MANA Contemporary (USA), FASE Festival of art, science, and technology (AR) and the International Image Festival (CO). Benazir’s artist-in-residence experiences in the USA, the Amazon rainforest, Argentina, and Portugal have shaped her practice, which she continues to develop as part of VVISION Studio in Denmark.
