David Bakum is a postgraduate student in Narrative Futures at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. With a background in theatre and film, David’s journey into the world of cinema began in their home country Germany, where they worked at a local theatre before moving to Scotland to pursue higher education. Passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalised filmmakers, particularly in the realm of queer cinema, David serves as a film curator, programmer, and pre-viewer for various film festivals across Europe. Their dedication to fostering dialogue extends beyond the realm of film, as they actively engage in interreligious and post-migrant spaces, advocating for several human rights and anti-racism organisations and initiatives.
