Elena Ponti

Elena Ponti is an Italian student of World Politics at Leiden University. She was born in Sardinia and later moved to the North of Italy thanks to a scholarship for the United World Colleges. Having lived with peers from around the world, she understood that conversations – whether in class or during lunchtime – are the best way to learn. More importantly, they are essential to understand oneself and others. In her later years of education, as an undergraduate in the Netherlands, Elena became passionate about different topics, particularly nationalism and the history of totalitarianisms. She is also involved in research on the European housing crisis as a research assistant and volunteers to raise awareness of children’s rights for the UNICEF Student Team in The Hague. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, re-watching The Office, and being in nature, soaking up as much sun as possible.
