Fakiha Ahmed

Born in The Hague, with her roots in Somalia, the place of birth of her parents, Fakiha Ahmed is a firm believer in the resilience of people and has always felt a deep responsibility to uplift communities that are often underrepresented, overlooked, and excluded. Fakiha holds a BA in European Studies and is currently finishing her Master of Social Sciences in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden. She has developed a particular focus on women’s rights, peacebuilding, and democratic governance.

As a social scientist and activist, Fakiha believes in the power of academia to produce knowledge and hopes to translate this to influence policy actions that can reach all levels of society – the connected and the disconnected. With her involvement in the Humanity in Action program, she hopes to create tangible actions that will directly benefit others by bridging the gap between research and practice.
