Kalliopi Stefanaki is working with UNHCR in Greece as a Protection Officer and Head of the Protection Unit. She has studied Law in the Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed her post-graduate studies (DEA) in Public International Law in the University Paris II Sorbonne. She is a lawyer, member of the Athens Bar Association, working in the field of human rights and refugee rights since 1998. She served in the Greek Ombudsman’s Office, in the Human Rights Department for eight years. She has participated as a speaker in a number of conferences related to the above mentioned fields and has published a series of articles on the same topics. During the years 1994-1996, Kalliopi Stefanaki worked with the European Commission and the Office of the European Parliament in Paris. She is a member of the Hellenic League for Human Rights, an NGO active in the human rights field in Greece, and a member of the International Federation of Human Rights. She is married with two children.
