Kate Powers attends the University of Michigan Law School in the United States where she focuses on public international law. She is particularly interested in transitional justice mechanisms and whether or how they promote positive, lasting peace in communities. She aims to use both critical and gendered lenses when addressing such issues. Kate intends to work internationally after graduation. Most recently, she assisted a least-developed countries delegation at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, worked in the Gender unit at a public interest law firm in Namibia, and led a group of student researchers in Belize addressing constitutional protections for LGBTQ persons. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor rock climbing and playing with her Australian Cattle Dog named Brady.
