Mac Mugabo

Article

Mac Mugabo was born and raised in Rwanda, and currently goes to Marist college in New York, where he majors in Economics and Political Science. He aspires to portray the human experience in its vastness and depth. Mac has worked with the government of Rwanda, where he served as a Macroeconomics policy intern, contributing to the design of Rwanda’s seven year strategic development plan. Presently, Mac is working with an NGO—Rural & Migrant Ministry—to combat the challenges that curb the experiences of immigrant farmers and their families as they acclimate to their lives in the U.S. His peculiar interest in immigration policy stems from his experience as a child of parents who were forced into refugee status due to the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsis in Rwanda. Mac aspires to pursue a career in the realms of humanitarian work—all in the hopes of fracturing the landscapes of injustice and deprivation.
