Michael C. Scott (he/him/his) is currently the Chief of Staff at Humanity Health, a healthcare technology company based in New York, NY. In this capacity, Michael partners closely with the Chief Executive Officer to drive high-impact, strategic initiatives across all aspects of the business. Prior to this role, Michael worked at Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a non-profit in Bethesda, MD, and formerly at Goldman Sachs in New York, NY.

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland, Michael enjoys exploring different cultures through food, language, music, and movement. In 2014, Michael was fortunate to research the intersection of gender and ethnicity in China, observing trends on gender inequality and human development. After presenting in Kunming, Michael discovered more interest in research, specifically pertaining to historically excluded ethnic groups. In 2015, Michael was selected to be the first sophomore equity research intern in Goldman Sachs’ history, paving the way for an internship program that has grown since. He eventually joined the firm full-time, covering Steel, Metals and Mining, and Pulp, Paper, and Packaging sectors in Latin America (given his fluency in Spanish and Portuguese) and later, Biotechnology and Specialty Pharmaceuticals in North America.

Michael is a Humanity in Action Senior Fellow (Berlin 2017) and served as a member of the international non-profit organization’s American Planning Board (2018-2020). Michael’s array of interests is reflected by his time spent with his friends from around the world, co-creating plant-based meals with his mother, scuba-diving with his father, and hanging out with his siblings. Either alone or through community events, Michael can be found gardening in honor of his African, Indigenous Caribbean, and Native American ancestral roots, or supporting/guiding donation-based meditation sessions. Michael studied Economics and Chinese Studies at Morehouse College where he graduated as valedictorian in 2017.

Michael is a 2020-2021 Racial Equity Grant Recipient. This 10-month grant recognizes the impactful work of Humanity in Action Fellows and Senior Fellows as they support racial equity and #BlackLivesMatter.
