Sidonie Fernau


Sidonie Fernau is Head of the Diversity and Migration Unit at Der Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband in Hamburg. In this function, she is responsible, among other things, for The Intercultural Opening (IKÖ) of the Head Office in Hamburg, as well as all projects in the area of migration and flight. Sidonie Fernau conceived and directed the construction of the Migration Competence Center (KomMig) and was responsible for the conceptual design and construction of the day-care facility for transit refugees (Bieber-Haus) at Hamburg’s main station in 2015/2016. She studied Islamic and Political Science at Ankara University, Turkey and at the University of Hamburg as well as Nonprofit Management at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster, Germany. Her studies covered migration and integration policies, intercultural orientation and opening-up processes of organizations and institutions and the participation and empowerment of migrants, as well as their initiatives and organizations. In addition, Sidonie Fernau is a member of the board in the Association of Binational Families and Partnerships (iaf e.V.), a member of the Think Tank 30 of the Club of Rome, and a participant in the Integration Summit of the German Federal Government.
