Spencer Goldberg

Article

Spencer Goldberg is a rising fourth-year student at the University of Virginia double majoring in Political & Social Thought and Philosophy. Born in central New Jersey to Jewish parents, Spencer attended a science and engineering magnet program for high school before finding a passion for politics and applied ethics. In Charlottesville, Spencer spends much of his time engaged in historical education, pointing out the paradoxes in America’s founding and showing how the legacies of history continue to inhabit our landscape. Beyond leading an organization that gives historical tours of the University of Virginia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Spencer has given tours of Monticello, the historic home and primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson, and a local African American Heritage Center. Spencer is interested in historical-political memory, human rights, and social inequality. After graduating, he plans to work in the non-profit or public service domains before attending law school.
