Susann Rüthrich

Since 2021 Susann Rüthrich has been the Commissioner of the Saxonian State Government for Children and Young People. She is responsible for strengthening children’s rights at an inter-departmental level in the areas of protection, support, and participation according to the Children’s Rights Convention in Saxony. Prior to that she was a Member of the German Federal Parliament from 2013 to 2021. As Member of the Parliament she served in different committees such as the Committee on Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the Committee on Children, and she was the Deputy Chair of the Committee of Inquiry on the NSU (2015 – 2017). Susann Rüthrich has a M.A. in political science, history, and sociology from Technical University Dresden and FernUniversität Hagen. She completed her Master’s degree with a thesis in peace and conflict studies. Susanne Rütherich is married and has three children.
