Yasmeen Akhtar

Yasmeen Akhtar is founding Chief-Executive of Inchange, a cutting-edge consultancy helping leaders and organisations transition through change and towards liberation. Inchange’s work is to hold clients to account to their vision of justice and liberation; as a partner you can expect to be held with compassion, in confidence, and always to account.

Formerly a Lawyer graduating with BA Honours in Law from the University of Westminster Law School, Yasmeen has spent almost two decades working in social justice including work in Berlin acting as the inaugural Executive Director of the Alexander Haus in Groß Glienicke, Potsdam. Alexander Haus is a centre for education and reconciliation, bringing people together for dialogue and transformation in local communities, and from around the world.

While Yasmeen was born in Kashmir, she grew up in the UK where her family has been settled since the early 60’s. Yasmeen has cemented her reputation as a leader in the fields of social cohesion, anti-oppression and intersectional justice, and has established this work in the UK, US, the Middle East and in Europe.

She is primarily engaged in developing new frameworks for governance in system change, locating patterns of power within justice sectors and interrupting them, and developing long term sustainable learning for building anti-oppressive cultures.

Yasmeen is passionate about supporting working class women with migration histories to progress in their work and lives, she is a Board Member of the Muslim Women Connect group in the UK, a mentoring network. Yasmeen also co-leads the Social Justice Collective, a network of senior non-binary and female people of colour consultants working in the Equalities field.
