On March 17, 2022, the Ost-Passage Theatre in Berlin will host Humanity in Action Senior Fellow, Francis Seeck, to perform a live reading of “Solidarity Against Classism“, the first German-language anthology on anti-classism. The book contains 27 contribution and was created by journalist Brigitte Theißl and Francis.

The anthology discusses the dangers of classism, which is defined as “discrimination based on class origin or class membership”, and impacts education, health care, and housing, among others. Growing up in a lower-class, single-parent household, Francis encountered the concept of classism from an early age. Now, they continue to raise awareness and education about classism – a topic that is becoming more widely discussed and researched in academia. In addition to being an author, Francis is also an anti-discrimination trainer and a PhD candidate at HU Berlin, researching and teaching about classism and social justice.

The live reading will be at Ost-Passage Theatre on 17 March, 2022 at 7 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed on YouTube with a link which you can get by writing to stream@ost-passage-theatre.de.
