We are excited to announce that on September 1st, 2022, Humanity in Action Fellow Prof. Dr. Lorenz Narku Laing was awarded a Professorship for Social Sciences and Research on Racism at The Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Bochum.

This Professorship is particularly exciting as it is a rarity to have this form of specific thematic focus. As well as this, it is important to recognise and celebrate the awarding of this Professorship to Lorenz Narku Laing as a 30 year old Black man, given the all too prevalent institutional biases that work against the POC community. Laing’s work will delve into this very question, and we are excited to follow up with his progress in this area.

In his research and teaching, Prof. Dr. Lorenz Narku Laing wants to get more involved in educational justice and working again racism.
