Amnesty International's "Digital Investigations Summit"

Landecker Fellow Christoffer Horlitz is involved in organizing the Digital Investigations Summit with Amnesty International in Berlin.

The event will take place on September 15 at Berlin’s bUm – Space for Solidarity. The program will be held in English.

Specialists, researchers, as well as civil society groups and tech experts will exchange ideas about new digital methods for human rights investigations.

Indeed, “in Berlin, a community of top researchers works in the field of human rights. We want to bring these organizations and activists together with the universities in our network to expand this unique cooperation,” explains Christoffer who works as a specialist for international affairs at Amnesty International in Germany.

Topics of the “Digital Investigations Summit” will include:

1. Surveillance technology and its consequences for human rights
2. Development of AI tools to support the search for evidence
3. Investigation of war crimes
4. Ethical considerations of open source and AI
5. Open source in the discovery of colonial crimes
6. Investigation methods in countries and regions where on-site research is not possible

Christoffer is one of thirty 2022-2023 Landecker Democracy Fellows.
