In April of 2021, Landecker Fellow Erica Dorn programmed a Designing Migration Equity summer course at Carnegie Mellon University. Students taking the course were considered as design co-researchers in Erica’s Humanity in Action action project – Civic Mobility.
As part of the program, students were to generate design interventions for migration equity that support Erica’s mission in co-designing pathways towards democracy.
Below are some of the tasks students have taken during the course:
- Review and discuss existing research and knowledge related to open borders and migration equity
- Apply research and design methods to conduct investigations of formal and informal migration equity interventions
- Participate in a collective futuring exercise
- Design a culture or policy intervention towards migration equity
