Alfee Rubayet is a Bangladeshi artist, activist, and aspiring development practitioner, and a recent graduate from Franklin & Marshall College with a double major in Economics and Government with a Social Justice Certificate. She is set to begin an M.A. in International Development at American University’s School of International Service. Her academic rigor is exemplified in her honors thesis, the Racial Socioeconomic Disparity Index, a pioneering tool offering the most granular, comprehensive measure of racial disparities across the U.S. Additionally, her fieldwork includes in-depth qualitative research with Bangladeshi female garment workers. Alfee’s activism, rooted in student movements from Bangladesh to the U.S., fuels her art, which has been showcased in seven gallery exhibitions in Dhaka and London. Committed to addressing gender, race, and class disparities, Alfee challenges postcolonial legacies manifesting through her Bangladeshi identity, queerness, and commitments to climate and labor rights, questioning who is entitled to justice.
