Ayan Goran, a West Philadelphia native, graduated from Villanova University in 2019 with a double major in Political Science and Communication, a minor in Arabic & Islamic Studies, and a concentration in Peace & Justice studies. As president of her university’s Muslim Student Association, a senator on student government, and enthusiastic member of Villanova’s Interfaith Coalition, Ayan made inclusivity and visibility her focuses during her time at Villanova. Additionally, she has served as a 2017 coach for the Chicago-based Interfaith Youth Core. Now, she is working as a Research Fellow on the American Voices Project for Stanford University’s Center on Poverty and Inequality. As part of this project, she has the privilege of interviewing individuals in low-income communities across the Northeast U.S. in order to see how social policy can be reformed to best meet human need. After this fellowship, Ayan will attend the LSE in pursuit of a Master’s degree.
