Brian Stout is an independent consultant working at the intersection of progressive philanthropy and social justice movements. Current professional interests include combating the global rise of far-right nationalism and facilitating transnational connections among social movements.
Brian’s background is in foreign policy, conflict prevention, and international development with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He serves on the Board of Directors for international human rights organization Humanity in Action and Seattle-based early childhood organization Child Care Resources, and was founding co-chair of the Seattle Chapter of the Truman National Security Project.
Brian holds an MA in International Relations with honors from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Amherst College, summa cum laude with distinction. He enjoys exploring the great outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
