Caroline Lindey is a recent alumna of Boston University where she received a joint BA and MA degree in Political Science and graduated magna cum laude. Her master’s thesis explored the origins of anti-AAPI stereotypes and the development of a combat-related racialized threat perception through 100 years of U.S. military expeditions in the Pacific theater.
This fall she will join the incoming political science Ph.D. cohort at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her research agenda lies at the intersection of authoritarian regimes and political violence, including physical integrity violations such as torture, extrajudicial execution, mass detention, political imprisonment, forced disappearance, and genocide/politicide. Her regional focus is China and its policy of mass detention of Uyghur Muslims. Her research is influenced by previous internship experiences in transnational human rights activism in Washington, DC. In her free time, Caroline enjoys lifting weights and cooking for friends.
