Christine Kindler

Christine Kindler is a doctoral student at Howard University in the Clinical Psychology program. Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, she earned her BA in History from the University of Kentucky. As an undergraduate, she was introduced to the field of conflict transformation while studying abroad in the West Bank and went on to work with peacebuilding organizations in both the U.S. and Afghanistan. These experiences deepened her interest in how cycles of violence are created and sustained through the intergenerational transmission of trauma and how they can be interrupted with community-based interventions. Before heading to Howard, she completed a MA in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University. Her current research focuses on the development of interventions that promote mental health following trauma exposure. In particular, she is interested in partnering with communities to contextualize and increase access to evidence-based programs that facilitate reconciliation in conflict and post-conflict settings.
