Emilie Håkansson is currently in her last semester at St. John’s University where she will soon obtain a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Her educational research explores the concept of positive freedom and how to further individuals’ freedoms with a focus on education. She was born and raised in Copenhagen and moved to the US in 2018 to pursue a bachelor’s degree and play college tennis. After two years of attending Northern Arizona University she transferred to St. John’s University in Queens, NYC where she continued her academic, and athletic career and completed a Bachelor of Science in Business. She is also a contributing writer for the university’s newspaper The Torch. In her spare time Emilie likes to explore art and new places, hang out with friends and also volunteers at the 155th Street Community Fridge in Harlem.
