Hannah Wagner

Hannah is an alum of both the inaugural Detroit Fellowship (’17) and the Bailey-Boushay House – Humanity in Action professional fellowship in Seattle (’18.) A recent graduate of Wayne State University Law School, Hannah works as a legal aid attorney in Detroit, specializing in eviction defense, domestic violence and family law, and public benefits cases. As a board member with the Motor City Freedom RIders, Hannah advocates for developing a reliable and truly regional public transit system in southeast Michigan. Motor City Freedom Riders operates as a bus riders union, amplifying the voices of everyday riders and fighting for fair fares, equitable wages for drivers, and safe bus stops and shelters. Through her transit advocacy work and community involvement, Hannah continues to fight for a more equitable Detroit.

Hannah is a  2021 – 2022 Detroit Grant Competition Recipient. This opportunity grants Humanity in Action Fellows and Senior Fellows between $500 – $5000 to address equity in Detroit by taking a community-centered approach to its development. Projects last 10- months and have tackled health disparities through vaccine information, combatted the digital divide through equitable internet access initiatives in Southwest Detroit, centered bus riders in regional transit dialogue and created sustainable workforce development programs for those with barriers to traditional employment.
