Jakob Lund

Throughout his career and academic studies, Jakob has concentrated on issues relating to human rights, humanitarian action, and peace building. As a graduate student at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, he founded Play31, an organization that used sport to bring together people torn apart by the war in Sierra Leone.

Play31 has won a number of awards and brought together more than 60,000 people through football festivals and human rights workshops.

Jakob worked with UN Women for five years, concentrating on gender equality in humanitarian action, and previously for Amnesty International. He’s currently the head of learning and capacity with ActionAid Denmark. He has written one non-fiction book on the Sierra Leonean civil war and a novel published in Danish.
