Jens Hesselbjerg Christensen is Professor of Climate Physics in the Department of Ice, Climate and Geophysics (PICE) at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen. He conducts research on anthropogenic climate change and as former head of research at the Danish Meteorological Institute, DMI, he has for a number of years led initiatives aimed at providing relevant and robust climate information on a regional scale. Jens has been involved in putting climate change on the political agenda, e.g. as a long-standing member of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) where he has been the main author of several of the panel’s major reports. He has contributed to more than 150 scientific articles and books and through his research he has led national and international initiatives on climate change. He has also through his IPCC work a share in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
