Joshua Allen (he/they) is a gender and sexuality researcher, an amateur political economist, and, on occasion, a poet. Holding an MA in Democracy and Governance and a BA in Political Science and Creative Writing, he has written on gender and migration, conflict and masculinities, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence, with a particular focus on the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Josh was a research fellow at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security, where they worked on projects focusing on democracy and gender equality and masculinities and peacebuilding. In the fall, they will be starting a PhD in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University at Buffalo, where their research will center on the gendered, racialized, and sexualized imbrications of (neo)colonial projects with the histories, methods, and epistemologies of the social and natural sciences.
