Marwa is a Syrian woman who graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. She started a career in academic research where she worked with a Harvard professor on sectarianism, with a Cambridge-Beirut led research center on social movements, and with a Duke professor on exploring a rhetorical approach to attention.
Her academic interests lie in the intersection of authoritarianism, mass consensus, propaganda and limitations of perception, language, and logic. Being Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and a young woman who is living in Europe in the current global climate, she is trying to discover the right formula of academia, activism, and politics that would realize her visions.
She is passionate about art and music and is exploring creative solutions that allow Mediterranean, Middle Eastern artists to surpass their immediate geographical challenges and provide opportunities that match the exquisite spark in their art.
