Nicole is a psychologist and media scientist, with a focus on media, digitalization, and democracy. After finishing her Ph.D. in Psychology in 2012, she studied media science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. She directed a documentary about refugee children, their flight and life in Germany, which won the LFK Medienpreis in 2017.
Early in her career, Nicole worked as a researcher and developed a digital group therapy project. She coordinated a research group at the Leibniz-Institute for knowledge media (IWM) and delivered lectures at the University of Tübingen, as well as for the International Bund (IB). She works as senior project manager at the Berghof Foundation in the department Global Learning for Conflict Transformation.
In her work, she focuses on digital peace education, particularly in phenomena like mis- and disinformation, hate speech and conspiracy theories, and what influence those have on individuals and (democratic) societies. Nicole loves to dance and is a passionate cook. She is the mother of one child and lives in Tübingen.
