About the Fellowship

The Office of Ben Allen–Humanity in Action Fellowship provided the opportunity for a Senior Fellow to work alongside California State Senator Ben Allen. The fellowship is a three-month summer opportunity in Los Angeles, California. The Fellowship was offered in 2017 and was available exclusively for the Humanity in Action Senior Fellow Network. The selected Humanity in Action Senior Fellow participated in substantial policy research, community engagement and administrative projects primarily in Senator Allen’s key issues of environmental sustainability, education, healthcare and transportation.

Senator Ben Allen represents the 26th Senate District of California – comprised of the Westside, Hollywood and coastal South Bay communities of Los Angeles County. Senator Allen currently serves as Chair of the Senate Education Committee and the legislature’s Joint Committee on the Arts. He is a member of the Senate Committees on Elections and Constitutional Amendments, Natural Resources and Water, and Transportation and Housing. He co-chairs the Environmental Caucus and is Vice-Chair of the Jewish Caucus.
