Kirsty Leech

Article

Kirsty Leech is a British-American social justice advocate and aspiring public interest lawyer. She graduated magna cum laude from Rice University with a double-major in Political Science and Sociology, and is an incoming AnBryce Scholar at New York University School of Law. Her passions lie at the intersection of institutions and identities, through understanding how laws, policies, and governance impact historically under-resourced communities, and then by utilizing those avenues to forge systemic change. She has experience working in local, state, national, and international non-profits on both civil rights and human rights. Her focus lies in pursuing disability justice at a domestic and international level, inspired by her family’s experiences. This passion was furthered during her year-long Watson Fellowship where she conducted independent research in eight countries to better understand the experiences of families with disability and support services, learning directly from persons with disabilities, family members, and advocates.
