In 2021, Humanity in Action furthered its cross-cultural and collaborative learning programming, leading to strong impact and action from students and professionals from around the world.
Humanity in Action is proud to showcase its 2021 Activity Report. This international report features the activities and accomplishments from each of the six National Offices, along with programs that were collaboratively implemented internationally.
More than a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization, through a virtual approach, was able to continue its mission of strengthening the commitment to our network of Fellows and Senior Fellows to democratic values, while increasing their knowledge of human rights challenges past and present. Despite our world’s challenges, 2021 was a year of great success as Humanity in Action furthered its cross-cultural and collaborative learning programming, leading to strong impact and action from students and professionals from around the world.
This programming spanned from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ninth cycle of the Encouraging Democratic Values and Active Citizenship Amongst Youth Fellowship to Denmark’s co-organization of the North Atlantic Rainbow Days during the Copenhagen Pride Week. From Germany’s launch of the animated films Two Trees in Jerusalem and My Father’s War to the Netherland’s co-organization of the Everyday Racism workshop during the week against racism in Amsterdam. From Poland’s launch of its mobile application called “10 STAGES” to the United States’ continuation of the Racial Equity Grants and Detroit Community Grants.
Internationally, our offices have continued to collaborate closely on a variety of projects, including the Landecker Democracy Fellowship. In partnership with the Alfred Landecker Foundation, the Fellowship brings together 30 diverse leaders from across Europe and the United States to shape democratic spaces in our digital age.
We are thankful to the Humanity in Action staff who have coordinated and managed this work throughout 2021 despite the challenges. We are grateful to all the National Boards who strategically guide us in bringing our vision a reality. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our funders who believe in our projects and activities. Finally, we thank all who continue to support us in our mission and help us to grow, connect, and educate young leaders around the world.
