Senior Fellow moderates panel on tools to combat the discrimination of Artsakh's Armenian population

Senior Fellow Anoush Baghdassarian is moderating a talk on international tools and treaties to stop hate speech, violence, and discrimination against Artsakh’s Armenians. The panel will discuss how systematic dehumanizing rhetoric originating from official levels of society can escalate into physical violence and even often serves as a precursor to ethnic cleansing and genocide. The focus of the panel will be on the international tools in place to try to stop such damaging cycles in their tracks, and particularly talk about the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in relation to the plight of Artsakh Armenians.

This event is hosted by the Armenian Bar Association. The panel will consist of Professor Kathryn Sikkink, the Ryan Family Professor of Human Rights Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, and Professor Gay McDougall, a Scholar-in-Residence at the Leitner Center on International Law and Justice of Fordham University Law School.
