We foster democratic awareness and build bridges among communities through international educational programs for emerging leaders who share a strong commitment to human rights in their own communities, and beyond. Humanity in Action Inc. has its international headquarters in Brooklyn, New York with additional staff in Atlanta, Georgia and Detroit, Michigan and various partner offices in Europe.
Our programs connect students and young professionals with renown scholars, activists, experts, decision-makers, artists, and contemporary witnesses affected by past or present human rights violations and structural discrimination. We develop Fellowships, study trips, seminars, workshops, and conferences that challenge contemporary mainstream narratives by looking deeply into historical and current human rights challenges.
We create a community culture that is collaborative, intense, caring, open to questioning and learning, interdisciplinary, international, and fun.
The topics we focus on are human rights and social justice issues, particularly those of immigration and diversity. Our programs examine the history and current state of racism and antisemitism. We create a community culture that is collaborative, intensive, caring, open to questioning and learning, interdisciplinary, international and fosters deep friendships. We think about the big questions in life and society – like moral responsibility, values, human dignity and fostering an understanding of different viewpoints.
The personal and intensive exchange through our programs and the development of independent civil society initiatives set the path to an active alumni network: the international Humanity in Action Senior Fellow community.
Our community serves as a resource in supporting our Fellows and Senior Fellows to develop their civic engagement and to actively contribute to their communities. By learning and growing with and through each other we place emphasis on life-long learning. We offer conferences, webinars, workshops, Professional Fellowships and more to our Senior Fellows.
